Practicups Instructions in English
1. Pick your size
Practicups provides you with two sizes to choose from.
Choosing the right size mostly depends on your flow. On heavy days it might be better to use the bigger size whilst on light days you can use the smaller one. The diameter of both cups is almost the same. Most women will be able to use both, unless there is a gynecological problem, such as a uterine prolapse. In this case, please consult your gynecologist before using this product.
2. Sterilizing
It is important to sterilize your menstrual cup before the first use and after every menstrual cycle to kill all bacteria. You can sterilize your cup by boiling it in a pan with water for 5-10 minutes. Make sure the cup is fully covered in water and does not touch the bottom of the pan. Tip: put the cup in a whisk and then in the pan, to avoid it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
3. Wash your hands
Before inserting the cup, make sure to wash your hands for a minimum of 30 seconds with soap.
4. Folding
The most common way to fold the cup is by pressing it in a C-shape. There are multiple ways to fold the cup. On our website and social media accounts you can find different folding techniques.
5. Inserting
Hold the cup in the chosen shape. With the other hand, open your labia. Insert the cup until it is fully and comfortably in. The cup will stay in its place on different heights depending on the person and the day of your menstrual cycle. Let go of the cup so it will unfold and create a vacuum. This will keep the cup in its place and prevent it from leaking.
6. Checking
You can check if the cup is correctly inserted by pinching the bottom of the cup with two fingers. The cup should feel fully unfolded. If it is still folded, you can hold the cup at the base and turn it slightly until you notice it unfold. Use the cup for a maximum of 12 hours, depending on your flow and the size of the cup.
7. Removing
Wash your hands. Take the cup and gently pinch it to break the vacuüm. Then slowly remove the cup by twisting it slightly and slowly pulling it down, without letting loose of the pinch. You won’t need the little stem to remove the cup.
8. Cleaning
Empty the cup and wash it with warm water. You can use a perfume-free soap if you wish. If you have no access to water, you can clean the cup with toilet paper or a wet wipe. Just make sure to clean the cup with water at the next opportunity.
9. After your menstruation
Sterilize the cup after every menstruation and store it in the cotton bag provided or a breathable box.
